Poynings Country Fete

Poynings Fete
Please join us at our traditional village fete in the (former) rectory garden on Saturday 15th June from 2:00–4:30pm. This event helps fund the general upkeep of our beautiful Norman Church. There will be games and stalls for all ages — golf, toys, plants, cakes, books, a raffle and a tombola. Enjoy a scrumptious cream tea and watch the maypole dancing or puppet show with a glass of refreshing Pimms.

Bobservation No. 57 – Events

Evergreens
You may have noticed that the Evergreens have been appearing on St Andrew’s church circulars. This very praiseworthy partnership of caring helpers and householders has been hosting teas for the elderly villagers of the Downland parishes for many years. I am reliably informed that this activity is not a church organisation but purely brought together by its supporters. It is a classic example of villages performing a truly social event and long may it continue. Many thanks to all those who make it possible.

Hedgehog Awareness Week starts today

Hedgehog house
Recapitulating the great migration of English agricultural workers to the cities of 100+ years ago, rural hedgehogs are now moving to suburbia. If you would like to keep Mrs. Tiggy-Winkle in your Fulking garden and discourage her from moving to Mile Oak, then you need to offer her some incentives. You could, for example, provide a hole in the fence that would allow her to enjoy the fine slugs that your neighbours breed on their lettuce patch. Or you (or your children) could even build her a house.
