Repairs to the entrance to Preston Nomads

Preston Nomads entrance
The entrance to Preston Nomads CC is scheduled to be repaired on 22nd and 23rd November. This means that the residents’ parking area and footpath/bridleway won’t be accessible on those days. PNCC and their contractors will try and get this essential work done with minimum inconvenience. If you have any further queries please contact Martin Glover at martinpncc@gmail.com

Clappers Lane + Truck = Mayhem

On Friday a truck missed the turn to AVS Fencing in Holmbush Lane and continued down Clappers Lane damaging vegetation and the fencing at Preston Nomads Cricket Ground where it turned around.

According to AVS, all suppliers are given directions and told not to go down Clappers Lane. However they believe that a contributory factor is that the sign on the corner of Clappers and Holmbush Lanes, which they have permission from WSCC to put there, was removed or at least not visible. AVS have mended the fencing and cleared up as best they can, but would appreciate any information about how the sign came to be tampered with. Contact: 01273 492969

Unicorns sighted

FTTC Clappers Lane
A free pink plastic ‘My Little Unicorn’ for every new subscriber! Well, possibly not. But no less plausible than the WSCC claim that Fibre to the premises is available now to the poor unfortunates who huddle over crystal sets in the hovels, kennels and decaying apple stores that form the landscape in the northern half of Clappers Lane. Click the unicorns to find out more. [Hat tip — Andrew Iversen]

The Devil’s Punchbowl 200

The Devil's Punchbowl route

Our cycling and Civil Defence correspondent, General Sir Frederick (”Tiger”) Nidgett, writes as follows:

The summer offensive continues. Garish hordes of gore-tex Visigoths and spandex Vandals will be blocking traffic and intimidating pets and pedestrians as they drive an aesthetic assault along the Clappers Lane salient, The Street, and Edburton Road on the evening of Sunday 15th July, between 20:00 and 21:30. An MTB patrol from Fulking Home Guard will be out earlier in the day to set cycle traps, install temporary misdirection signage, and leave a crate of complimentary nitrite-enhanced rehydration packs beside the pump house.

Another static caravan is due to be delivered to Market Garden this Friday (29th June) between 14:00 and 17:00. It will be arriving via Poynings Road, so it will travel through the eastern end of the village and the southern part of Clappers Lane. Clappers Lane residents are urged to move their cars elsewhere during that period. More details will be available from a leaflet due to be put through letterboxes in the next couple of days.

Village Clean Up

Clappers Lane litter

Sunday 15th April 2018 from 10:30am

Please get involved in keeping the village tidy and free of rubbish. There are four meeting points:

  • Party 1 starts at the corner of Clappers/Holmbush Lanes and moves South;
  • Party 2 starts at the corner of The Street/Clappers Lane and moves North;
  • Party 3 starts at the Ram House by the Shepherd and Dog and moves up The Street;
  • Party 4 starts at The Deans in Poynings Road and moves towards The Street.

Take care of traffic and wear bright colours and please bring suitable gloves and bin liners to collect the rubbish. Dispose of collected rubbish in your own wheelie bins. If this time is not convenient choose your own time and do your bit. Perhaps ending up at the Shepherd & Dog for a well-earned pint! Any queries give me a call on 271.

Bob Rowland, on behalf of Fulking Social Committee.
