Bob’s Cafe reopens

Bob's Cafe reopens
Bob’s café is open again this Friday, 31st January, from 11:00am–2:00pm, and all Fridays for the foreseeable future. Also open for coffee and bacon sandwiches this Sunday so long as the football is not rained off. If you have retained any of the café’s white melamine plates (first used for pizza takeaways), please return them as the café is a bit short of them.

New Year’s Resolutions for Fulking, Edburton and Poynings on Climate Change
At 7:00pm in Fulking Village Hall on Saturday 11th January

Over pot-luck snacks, join an inter-village consultation on what we can each do individually and together locally to make a practical difference towards reducing our impact on the environment.

To get the ball rolling, we will start by watching a couple of short David Attenborough videos on climate change. Then we’ll open the floor to consultation on what we can do, on the basis of which we will make new resolutions for 2020 and beyond. Bring pencil and paper and practical ideas.

Any ideas or questions please contact Samantha.

Now that’s what a picture of a happy couple of newly weds should look like! Isn’t it lovely?

Climate Change

Many ghastly things are happening right now in our world but rising above them all is the planet-threatening event of Climate Change/Global Heating. It is easy to blame governments and oppositions for a dilatory attitude towards this, with some good reason, but it is incumbent on every one of us to act. Photovoltaic panels have become considerably cheaper to install and in spite of reduced feed-in tariffs have become cost-effective with the ever-rising cost of electricity. Solar water heating is also cheaper than it was and, in spite of our unpredictable weather, a highly efficient way to supply hot water. Certainly most short-haul journeys can be accomplished without the need to fly. If you have room in your garden then plant a tree. Perhaps when we get over what I can only describe as ‘the Eton mess’ we can concentrate on saving what there is left of the planet.
