A two day course for beginners with digital SLR cameras only. Day 1: Camera basics, manual control, manual metering, aperture priority and depth of field control. Day 2: advanced metering, composition, making a good shot better, fieldwork and supports, focussing and where it goes wrong, putting it all together.

The Sussex Wildlife Trust has developed a Forest School programme specifically for pre-school age children (2-5 year olds) at Woods Mill. Nature Tots is a programme focused around getting pre-school children engaged in wildlife and outdoor activity. It begins on March 5th. More information here.
Sussex Wildlife Trust is offering a two-part walk starting at 9:45am on Saturday 8th February:
Meet at the far end of the Jack and Jill Inn car park, Clayton, BN6 9PD (Explorer Map 122: TQ 198142) in good time for a 9.45 departure. The Inn is located on the A273 but does not open until noon so we will not be ordering our lunch beforehand. The walk will be in two halves both starting at the pub. The morning walk of about three and a half miles will include one fairly steep climb and will be along Underhill Lane to downland including the Jack and Jill windmills (with spectacular views, weather permitting) and back through Clayton. If the weather is bad there will be an alternative walk avoiding exposure at the top of the Downs!
The shorter afternoon walk is fairly flat and will pass through sheep pastures and woods. Walk led by Rita (Tel: 01273 843395 or 07930 877224 on the day).

If you come across a polecat carcass and are prepared to collect it, please freeze it and contact the Vincent Wildlife Trust by calling 01531 636441 or email. They will arrange for a postage box to be sent to you for the body to be returned in free of charge.
There is a high occurrence of polecat-ferrets in Sussex, which means that this time the Vincent Wildlife Trust is looking for a good sample of polecat/polecat-ferret carcasses for the survey so that they can analyse polecat purity within the county.
