The weather had been drizzly all morning and there was no play before lunch, but soon afterwards the players emerged. My second surprise of the day was to see them in coloured clothing whereas I was expecting day one of a three day championship game normally played in whites. .. I returned the following day in somewhat better weather to see proper cricket, in whites, get underway.

Postponed Dog Show – this weekend
The dog show postponed from last weekend due to the appalling weather is now on this Sunday, 2nd of August. The fun starts at 2pm, although entries are needed by 1pm.

According to this newish SDNPA website, Fulking is in the midst of a desolate area in which it is impossible to buy or eat local produce. Saddlescombe Farm provides an oasis — they are the only local food producers. Perhaps the SDNPA will give them an award for raising sheep on sand.
