New car park at Pyecombe

Football overflow parking in Pyecombe
Sophisticated advanced planning by Southern Rail has ensured that no trains will be stopping at Falmer on Boxing Day, the day of the Albion-Arsenal match at the Amex stadium. This is good news for residents of Fulking and Poynings who wish to attend: you can just drive to the Brendon Stud & Saddlery at Pyecombe and catch a shuttle bus to the stadium. Other readers may wish to give the A23 a wide berth that evening. Visit WeAreBrighton for the rest of the story.

Poynings Bonfire & Fireworks

Poynings fireworks
Join Poynings for their bonfire and fireworks at the Blacksmith Field (behind Forge Garage) on Saturday 3rd November. The procession will leave the Royal Oak at 6:25pm approximately. Lighting of the fire and fireworks will follow. Please give generously on the gate. If it follows the pattern of previous years, there will be some food and drink available but the Poynings authorities have yet to confirm that.

You can take material to the bonfire site, 9:00am–5:00pm, from now until November 1st. It must be taken to the bonfire site, not left on the Forge forecourt. Clean burning material only — wood, cardboard — but no tyres, plastic, metal, etc.

[Note from Poynings Parish Council: there has been some material dumped on the bonfire that isn’t suitable for burning, including builders waste and an old foam armchair. Any further incidents of unsuitable items being dumped will endanger the future of the event. Those who drop, throw down or otherwise deposit litter in the open air (even on private land) commit an offence.]
