Fulking Dog Triumphs Again
Once again, “Rommel”, pictured below, has received a Special Mention in the Any Other Dog category at the West Grinstead Dog and Ferret Show. Rommel suffers from alexithymia.

His owner, General Nidgett, said that Rommel had trained hard for the event and that this very public recognition of his achievement would be good for his morale.
Jumble Sale in Village Hall: 22nd December

Christmas Party: 22nd December
This year’s fancy dress party is to be held in the Village Hall starting at 8:00pm on 22nd December. The theme, as in previous years, is “Vicars and Tarts”.
[Polly says: last year, Revd. Richard Brown and a group of young ladies from Whitehawk had to be turned away on the grounds that, strictly speaking, they were not wearing fancy dress. We hope to avoid a recurrence of this embarrassing episode.]

Candidates from the Green Party are touring the area in SUVs distributing free copies of Al Gore’s book recounting how he invented the Internet.

Autumn Flower Arranging Competition
Won by Lady Nidgett for the third year running! A spectacular display combining bloodroot, deadly nightshade, black snakeroot, false hellebore, horse nettle, spurge and wolfsbane with wire and bits of straw.
Unfortunately, the Nidgett’s dog, “Rommel”, ate the exhibit before we were able to photograph it.
John Prescott moving to South Downs
The Deputy Prime Minister announced today that he had approved the new South Downs National Park. It would form the park to his new residence. All existing housing in the Park would be compulsorily purchased to provide accommodation for his staff. Rights of way, bridleways and public footpaths in the area are all to be terminated in the interests of security.

Edburton Student Wins Art Prize
Sophie Cholmondley-Barraclough of Old House, Edburton, currently in her second year at the Royal College of Art, has won first prize in the prestigious Soros-Bono Competition with her collage “Peace Good, Poverty Bad” (coloured paper on card).

Disabled Access to Downs Greatly Improved
Installation of the first stage of the Brighton & Hove Wind Farm, on Fulking Hill, has now been completed. Among the many advantages that this new facility brings to the area and its residents is a splendid gravel drive replacing a section of the dangerous unmade path formerly known as the South Downs Way.

Doris Klosters, Secretary of FWUC, the Fulking Wheelchair Users Collective, said “I can’t wait to get up there!”.
