Trevor Beattie, the Chief Executive of the South Downs National Park Authority, will be speaking at St. Peter’s Church Henfield at 5:30pm on Saturday 27th February. Admission is free but donations to Family Support Work will be welcomed. It seems safe to assume that Mr. Beattie will not be using PowerPoint for his presentation.

Village Hall Action Group

On 26th February 2016, 6:00–7:00pm [note the change of time]. We welcome new people to come and contribute to discussions, to help with organising events, and to help with maintenance tasks. We have maintenance mornings every so often in order to keep things tidy and to do small jobs. We would also welcome ideas for new events in the hall.

Poynings & Edburton road closures

The dog-leg that connects Poynings to the Saddlescombe Road will be closed from Monday 15th February until Friday 19th February. More details here but the notice appears to be incorrect judging from the diversion signs already posted.
If you were thinking that you might escape from Fulking by driving in the opposite direction, that’s tough, the Edburton Road is also closed, for the same period (rat underpass work). Stock up and stay put.

Monolith found in Village Hall
Except for a single very powerful radio emission aimed at Jupiter the four-million year old black monolith has remained completely inert. Its origin and purpose are still a total mystery.
That’s the one on the right. The one on the left is the amplifier used in the restored public address system. Instructions for use are posted on the wall above the piano.
Truleigh Hill Health Walk

Five miles, Tuesday February 9th 2016, 2:00pm–4:00pm, five miles starting from the High Trees car park (by the roundabout where the A2037 joins the A283). Organized by Horsham District Council, free, led by trained volunteers. No need to book, just turn-up at start point.
Horn Lane closure

In reality, a three-point turn should get you out of trouble.

Social Matters
There was a response from four of you about what we can do to improve the attendance at the annual village Christmas party. The consensus, with which I agree, was to hold it a week earlier, which would be Friday 9th December. A suggestion was made to have music, but I am of the opinion that the hall is too small to accommodate talking, drinking and music at the same time.
Does anyone have any further thoughts on this?
The Annual General Meeting of the Social Committee will be in the hall at 7.30pm on Thursday 4 February. We will be discussing, inter alia, the ongoing talks with the Shepherd & Dog to hold a Call my Bluff in a marquee at the pub on the evening of Friday 29 July and a smaller fair at the pub and the North Town Field on Saturday 30th July.
If you would like to be involved in this and willing to help, then please come along to the AGM.
