Portable Defibrillator Machines for Fulking

The Village has been given a gift of 2 defibrillator machines by the Henfield Heart team.

We plan to have one attached to the outside of the Village Hall and the other at the Shepherd & Dog. We are fund raising to pay towards the containers they are kept in. I am contributing in memory of Lucie. We are waiting to hear if the Social Fund will also make a donation.

In the meantime Dave Fletcher paramedic is going to do training sessions on:-

Sat 5th January at 11am.
Sat 12th January at 9.30am.
Sat 19th January 9.30 am.

All ages welcome, you never know when or where you will need this skill. It is far simpler these days, & the machines tell you clearly what to do. I had to perform Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation on Lucie, I was relieved I’d just been updated, but it was frightening and lonely. Hence I feel strongly about as many people being trained as possible.

Get Ready For Winter

Snow and Ice Clearing

Do’s

Follow the Parish Winter Management Plan.

Spread salt/grit evenly and at appropriate spread rates.

Spread salt/grit before frost to be most effective.

Clear any excess salt or grit once the snow/ ice has melted.

Inform either the grit bin volunteer or Parish Clerk if the grit is running low.

Look out for your neighbour.

Don’ts

Use water to melt snow and ice, if there is a risk it will refreeze.
Move snow to a location where it will create another risk such as another part of the pavement, road or where people are likely to walk.
Use excessive salt, grit or other materials so as to create a new or worse risk once the snow/ ice has melted.

Shed Security

Mid Sussex Community Safety Partnership gave local people the opportunity to protect their property from opportunist thieves looking to target poorly secured sheds. As the evenings grow longer shed security can be even more of an issue.

With this in mind the Partnership has now purchased additional shed alarms and residents who missed out can now get a discounted alarm. The shed alarms are available at the reduced rate of £7, which is £11 cheaper than the normal retail price of £18 and are available to buy from Town Help Points in Burgess Hill, East Grinstead and Haywards Heath.

Residents are also being encouraged to take a few simple steps that will help to keep their shed safe and secure;

Use a good quality padlock or mortice lock on the door of your shed
Protect the boundary and access to your garden with fences, walls and lockable gates
Make sure the door panel on your shed is strong enough
Put up security lighting around your shed
Lock valuable items together to prevent them being removed easily
Help to track your property by registering it for FREE at www.immobilise.com
