North Town Field – Call for new trustees

trusteeThe Trustees of the North Town Field Trust wish to appoint two new trustees. This will be done by a vote of the villagers at the village Annual Parish Meeting on Thursday May 12th 2016. We are looking for people who want to be actively involved in the hands-on organisation of looking after the field.

Any resident of Fulking may nominate a person living within 5 miles of Fulking village hall to become a trustee subject to having that person’s agreement to be nominated.

In the event of more than two people being nominated then the appointees will be decided by written ballot. A majority of villagers present at the meeting must vote in in favour of the appointments.

Please send any such nominations to John Hazard, the Trust Secretary, at Laurel House in The Street or by email to john@hazzy.net. By May 8th latest please.

Downland photos needed

Fulking Village Action Group is planning to produce a Downland Village Calendar of photographs for 2017. Money raised from the calendar will go to help the village.

We need high-quality photos of local landscapes in different seasons and weather, also local wildlife, flora, livestock and scenes of village life / local activities. And we need them now!

Please email your submissions to photos@fulking.net as soon as possible, and by end of May at the latest. Images taken on a decent digital camera should be fine, but ideally they should be as large as possible with a minimum pixel dimension of 2500 x 1700. Also send us a telephone number so we can contact you.

Landscape format is preferred. You must own the copyright of the images and agree to publication of them in the calendar.

Mad March Pub Quiz at the Shepherd and Dog

Mad-March-Quiz

A hundred quizzes are underway to raise vital money for hospices around Sussex.

The latest trivia night as part of the Mad March Pub Quizzes was held at the Shepherd and Dog in Fulking on Wednesday 16th March, where more than £500 was raised for the Friends of Sussex Hospices.

Hosted by the pub’s licensees David and Emily Pearse, eggheads were treated to tapas in between rounds as money poured in for charity.

The winning team, whose name cannot be published, was made up of Laura Thomas, Neil Hyde, Amy Sheppard, Gareth Davies, Hannah Reilly, Mark Wetjen, Alice Navarro and Ben Hunt.

Al Murray, the pub landlord, is one of many supporting the initiative and he said: “I think the Mad March Pub Quiz challenge is a top notch idea and I urge you to support it in whatever way you can to raise money for Sussex Hospices.”

There are still dozens of quizzes planned before the end of the month.
