Fungal Foray
Join mycologist Martin Allinson for a day of recording as many species of fungi as possible across Newtimber Hill on Friday 3rd October from 9:45am to 3:00pm. Wear suitable clothing and bring lunch. Yellow Ribbon Ball
The 2014 LAMBS Fundraising Ball is to be held in the Beethoven Suite at Hickstead on Saturday 11th October from 6:30pm to 1:00am. The three course dinner starts at 7:45pm. There will be a live band and music to dance to. Tables can be bought for 8-12 people. Use this form [PDF] to book tickets. The same form can be used to order programme advertising.
Poynings Fun Day
Bank Holiday Monday, 25th August, music, beer tent, stalls, bring-your-own-picnic:

the Blacksmith’s Field; - 02:00pm Presentation of fun run awards at the Village Hall;
- 02:30pm Tug-of-war, north versus south;
- 03:00pm Children’s traditional races (egg & spoon, etc.);

Newtimber Place Gardens
The gardens at Newtimber Place will be open on Sunday 10th August between 2:00pm and 5:00pm. Beautiful Grade I listed C16/C17 moated house (not open). Herbaceous border and lawns. Moat flanked by water plants. Mature trees. Wild garden, ducks, chickens and fish. Tea and home made cakes. Dogs need to be kept on a lead. Admission £3.00, children free, in aid of St Peter & St James Hospice.
No rest for the hikers
You saw Sold as Seen at Fulking Fair and, at 7:00pm on the 15th August, you can see them again at The Hiker’s Rest in Saddlescombe. Tickets are on sale at the cafe, £7.50 without food, £15.00 to include buffet.
Mile Oak Farm Open Day
Saturday 26th July, 10:00am onwards, free admission, proceeds to local charities.
Trailer rides, traction engines, vintage tractors, farm animals, donkey rides, ferret racing, dog scurry racing, airgun target shooting, archery, barbecue, ginger wine, and real ale.
The farm is due south of Perching Manor and you can walk there from Fulking without crossing a single public road. There are two quite different routes so you can make an interesting circular walk out of a visit. A copy of OS Explorer 122 will prove useful if you haven’t done it before.
Newtimber Place + harp + strawberry tea
On Sunday 3rd August, there will be a harp recital by Ella Murrell and a strawberry tea in Newtimber Place gardens in aid of the church at Newtimber.
