Clappers Lane reprofiling reprofiled

5-13 Clappers Lane Fulking
MSDC have advised that the large bank outside 5 to 13 Clappers Lane is about to be ‘reprofiled’, i.e., the level reduced to the same height as the footpath and graded down to the road. It will then be turfed. This is because of erosion and earth falling into the road, a problem that I first reported a year ago. The work will start on Monday 2nd November Friday 6th November and last for up to 3 days 5 weekdays. Access to Clappers Lane from the village will be severely limited during working hours between about 8:00am and 4:00pm.

Fireworks

Wise guys buy astra fireworks
With bonfire night approaching, please be sure to advise your neighbours if you are planning any fireworks – this is especially important if they have pets and/or livestock so that arrangements can be made to ensure the animals are in a safe environment to save them unnecessary distress. This applies at any time of the year, not just the traditional November round of fireworks.

The Parish Council has been advised that an animal needed veterinary treatment following a recent private firework display where the neighbours had not been pre-warned.

Bobservation No. 13

Image of Village - sliced upHomes & The Homeless

With the coming of November, we are getting well into winter and could possibly spare a thought for those less fortunate than ourselves who are without a roof over their heads.

Many properties in Britain remain unoccupied for various reasons; perhaps the owner lives elsewhere abroad for all or most of the year, or possibly it suits them to retain a property empty for investment purposes.

Whatever the reason, and I believe there may be such properties in this village, it would be nice if they could spare a thought for the disadvantaged and offer the accommodation to homeless citizens or, dare I suggest it, refugees.

While on the subject, it is a thought that a mandatory charge of double or triple Council Tax could be rendered on vacant properties as an incentive to the owners to put them to use. Perhaps the foreign investment in property, mostly in London, would be less attractive and it might solve some of the housing problems in the capital.
